We think the opportunities to revitalize the project of IU, to bring it to its size and original intentions as a project open, plural, mixed, inclusive, generous and autonomous. These years of Socialist Government have made clear their weaknesses and their enormous difficulties in holding firmly the way of a real program of political, economic and social. Its weaknesses have to do with great sensitivity to criticism from the right and the difficulties in tune with the same concern with the demands of the most disadvantaged social groups and the appeals to have taken this opportunity for clear political Left. This has not happened. Our parliamentary presence, however, has led to substantial changes for millions of people. We can say that without this term the United Left had been markedly less progressive, more continuity in the economic and more timid in significant changes. The main laws of this legislature, those that are going to encourage life of the majority in our society bear the unmistakable stamp of the United Left and their parliamentary activity.
